The Crazy Ones

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can
you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory
on wheels? We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Becky's Unicorn
Becky Brinkerhoff

                                 CHAPTER1

Once, along time ago, two girls named Corrine and Becca lived together with a poor, cranky, old man. This man made them work all day and never play. One day as the girls were collecting firewood for the mean old, man they saw a fiery mist blow!

Out came a unicorn, whose skin, horn, eyes, and mane were like a blazing fire!

He naed and seemed to say,” Come, you are wanted.” He reared up and vanished. They were stunned! They saw in his place was a smooth scale with all the colors of the rainbow.

But they knew if they didn’t get their work done they were dead, so they finished up and went to the cranky, old mans shack. They could not help but talking about the glorious unicorn. Once the old man heard this he said “Do not talk about false beasts and fairytales, instead concentrate on your work!”

                                 CHAPTER2

Angrily Becca stepped up,” They are not beasts but glorious animals, and not false but true! I would rather fly with unicorns than be with you OLD MAN!” As she said that she closed her hand on Corrine’s and her left on the stone. A flurry of pink raced around them and unicorns flue every were! A couple of minuets later they landed on plush grass.

They looked to their left and saw a little goat like unicorn prancing about. It had two little horns on the side and one big horn. It had a little crown on its head!

It looked at them and said “Look behind you!’ Its voice was the cutest voice they had ever heard! They looked and saw the most beautiful unicorn in the world!

                                CHAPTER3

His crest was broad and his neck was slender. His body was pure white except for a silver mane and tail, and his horn was gold.

They immediately knew he was the king of the unicorns!

Next to him was a mare. Like him she was pure white, but she had a biscuit colored mane and tail. Her horn had all the colors of the rainbow. The girls knew she was the queen. Beside her were two goats like unicorns. (One was the first one they saw.) Their names were Coline and Kele. Next to the king was a strong firer unicorn, which looked like the unicorn that came out of the mist.

                           CHAPTER4

“W-why a-are w-we h-here?” stuttered Corrine. “Because I called you,” replied the king of all unicorns. “Now, come and see the glory of unicorns.” The party looked at a herd of fire unicorns burn up the grass from a distance. They made friends with one! His name was Hagon. They moved on.

Coline and Kele begged and begged to go faster, but they had two girls with them, so they could not run. The guardian, who was weary of the begging, said, “Get a fast unicorn to carry the girls.” The king whistled and a six legged, tiger stripped unicorn ran towards them. He replied, “All tiger striped unicorns had six legs!"

                           CHAPTER5

His name was Aron. Surprised, Becca and Corrine mounted the unicorn and asked him why he had legs.” Next they visited the ice caves and saw the ice unicorns. They had manes and tails of ice and their eyes were blue, but so light that they look white! One came up and said “My names Wheen.” “Hello.” said Becca After that they went to the goat like unicorns. Princess Coline ran out to meet them then Kele. The princesses yelled, “Meet my new friend!!!” The goat like unicorns replied with a sweet “HI!” Coline and Kele stayed with the other unicorns.

They also went to the lake of the unicorns and saw the aqua unicorns. They had a long glossy green manes and fines for hooves. They were very shy but fierce in wars. Each one was light blue with silver eyes.

                   CHAPTER6

The next unicorns they saw were the Rose unicorns.  They were purple with hot pink horn and with roses one each side.  They were gentle hearted but heroic in wars.  They made more friends and when they were done the king called off everyone except for Corrine and Becca”Climb on my back.” Said the king. Of course they did, because ever since they laid eyes on him they wanted to ride him!

When they on he ran so fast that they almost fell off! At full speed he did a marvelous leap and they were in the air! Once they were higher than any unicorn could go the king said “Along time ago there was a old unicorn, who made a prophesy and it said, that half fairy and half human girls would be kick out of unicorn land and they would come back by a dragon scale with all the colors of the rainbow on it, go though trials, collect tokens to open the door, and defeat the evil one. When he said evil one they felt a horrible, cold feeling. “Many a unicorn died searching for the stone and the entrance to your world,” said the king. “But why did you waste the stone on us, I mean we are not part fairy?” asked Corrine. “Well…you are. Your mother died. I am sorry but now you can fly with the unicorns,” Replied the king.

                             CHAPTER7

“So we are orphans?” said Becca coldly ”Well…. no. You are mine.”Repied the king of all unicorns “Th-th-a-anks”studderd the girls. “Now, you need to get out of those old, clothes.” Stated the king. Once they had landed he neaded and a gold light came to him.

Out of the light came a small fairy carrying two dresses. She laid them down and left. Becca had a blue dress with transparent cloth over the solid cloth and silver lining at the bottom. Corrine had one that was the same but she had a purple one and gold lining. They put them on and the king said, “The time has come, you two must go to the Volcano of great fire. It is strait ahead,” said the king. When he finished he flue off.

                         CHAPTER8

“WAIT!” they cried. But it was to late. They went on, strait ahead.  They walked until they got to a huge river of firer. In it they saw a unicorn on a boat calling for help. The flue out to her and saw that the ship was sinking and the unicorn cold not fly. The girls picked up the small unicorn flue to the other side. In return the unicorn gave them the tip of his horn.  When they got there, after 6 hours, it looked like a hole into ultimate darkness. The hot lava glared at their faces and it felt like an opening of an oven door. All though it looked unwelcoming they gathered up their entire strength flue with their tired wings. About halfway there Becca’s wings stopped and she started falling! She looked at the hot, lava. It looked like it was ready to gobble her up!

She closed her eyes and clenched her teeth ready to feel the hot, steaming pain! But Corrine dived down and pulled Becca up. She smiled and said, “Let us go.” They reached the end in no time.

                        CHAPTER10

At the end they saw a huge door looming over them like a dark rain cloud. The girls opened it by the horn tip and when they did they saw a horrible sight! It was the evil one. His eyes were as redder than the biggest bon fire they had seen. His mane and tail were a mess of fire and hair. His body was red as an apple!  But the legs were the worst.

He had six ugly legs, each one crusted with the blood of unicorns. “ We have been expecting you.” Said the evil one.  “We?” Said Becca. As she said that about 20 of those goat like unicorns came out.  But they were not cute and sweet, but monstrous and horrible. They almost looked like the evil one.

                            CHAPTER11

The evil one lunged at them with all six bloody hooves. But they swerved just in time. ”What do we fight with?” yelled Becca. “Check your belt!” yelled Corrine holding up a knife. Becca grabbed the knife that was in her belt.

Then she charged. The girls both cute deep in his skin, but finally Becca realized his plan. He was egging them to the back of the cave to surround them. When he was not looking she darted under his legs. Becca raised her knife ready to stab. But one of his creatures saw her and kicked her back. When all hope lost and the evil one had them down Corrine thought about all the unicorns. Before she knew it she ways saying “Oh glory of the unicorns do not let us down! Save us.” When she said that the door crumbled and out stepped the king. After that came Aron, then Wheen and the whole herd of the of the goat like unicorns, led by Coline and Kele.

                      CHAPTER12

Then the cave top flue off and a bunch of cloud unicorns came down.  A tinkle of water came in the cave then the aqua unicorns.   Then the rose unicorns came enchanting those in her way making them love her!  The king said “Leave them alone, they are mine.” The king gave the order and the armies charged. The goat like unicorns fought wildly, slashing with their sharp horns. But the evil one called down huge darkness unicorns with crooked horns.  They could crush those in their way.

But wheen turned them in to ice statues and finished them off.  Aron had fire breath and burned them up!   The king breathed on the army to make them turn to his side. Soon the king met the evil one, face to face. They fought and the evil one jabbed the king’s heel! But the king smashed the evil ones head and the girls stabbed his stomach.

They stood back and a black mist came down and took the body up to the sky. The girls said thanks. But a dark figure crept out of the cave.
